A challenging but satisfying day for sailing with wind speeds of 2 gusting
4 from the North West. Two races were conducted on a match racing basis
with Ian, Martin and our latest graduate from the sail school, Joe, all
taking to the water in a fleet of Streakers. Martin took honours in the
first, with Ian coming in second and Joe completing the podium in third.
The Second race was a reversal of fortunes for Ian and Martin after
an uncharacteristic mistake on the line leaving Martin at the back of
the fleet. This mistake allowed Joe (our novice) to take the initial lead
into the first mark. However a shift in wind direction caught Joe out
at the second mark allowing the experienced Ian and Martin back in to
close the result out Ian, Martin, Joe coming in 1,2,3 resepctively.
All in all a good days racing with lots being learned by Joe, certainly
one watch in the future.
Thanks to Lloyd for providing safety cover and stepping in as OOD for
the day.
Remember there are trophies up for grabs this season so why not come
down on a Sunday and get involved?
